Informed Voters

Dedicated to inform and educate the voting public through articles, ideas, and links.

ABOUT

I’m a mom, and this is my voice. I hope this will also be a place of many other voices……voices of men, women, moms, dads and anyone else who wants to be heard.

I want this space to be a place of ideas, information, and debate. It’s not Republican or Democrat…..it is ISSUES. I’m not limiting myself to one side of any debate, because it’s just not that simple. For the most part, I do not agree with the Bush administration. But that does not mean that I will never vote for a Republican. I think that we as voters need to get back to voting on the issues. Not being able to see past one party or one issue is what weakens us, it weakens us as voters and also as a country.

It’s my hope that more “regular” people will get involved in both local and national politics. Everyone, not just politicians, have the power to make a difference. Writing one letter to your congressman CAN make a difference. Writing one article for the editorial page of your local paper CAN make a difference. Being informed and educating your friends CAN make a difference. We all CAN make a difference; in our communities, or nation, and in our world…..I hope this site will encourage others to stand up and have their voices heard.

I love comments, and try to respond to as many as I can. Even if you have a differing opinion, please feel free to comment. I just ask that comments be written in a respectful way, there is too much hate and anger in the world already…Why not agree to disagree, in a thoughtful way?

I look forward to hearing from you. All comments will be posted as long as they are written in a respectful way.

The fewer votes casted, the closer we are to a dictatorship.

  3. Catherine Morgan Says:

Hi “Mopspops”…I couldn’t agree with you more, and that is why I have started this site….The more people that know the issues and are talking about them….Hopefully the greater the voter turnout will be for the elections.

Thank you so much for your comment. I hope you will let me know how you feel about some of the other posts on the site. Just started, so come back and see me again too.

Catherine - I meant to give you a little advice: Put a “Subscribe to Feed” button on your page. It will make following your site much easier. Later! TM

  5. Catherine Morgan Says:

“Tireman” — Thanks…..I’ll try to figure out how to do that today. I’m just getting my “blogging-legs”…..still not sure what I’m doing. Any, advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I like what you started here, Catherine. Actually, I’ve been thinking also for some time now how the “silent” majority in my country can participate in national issues that affect them in a profound way as citizens. You see, the Philippines used to be a respected no.2 in Southeast Asia in the early 60s. A 20+ years of dictatorship and another 20 years of post-dictatorship false starts under four presidents later, we are now a basket case in the region. Even Vietnam is (or is it “has” now)overtaking us in the economic development game. As I see it, the circus called Philippine politics and the apathy of a largely uneducated electorate are major factors that keep us in the dumps. I’m interested in doing a thing like this (hope I still have the time and energy, given my consulting and blogging activities). For my info, what do you call this WordPress template? Are all the standard widgets in a typical WordPress template sufficient for this purpose or do you still do some html or css tweaking (actually I don’t know these things but just read about them somewhere)or import some widgets from other sources? I would appreciate some other unsolicited tips you may have on this. If you’d care to respond, kindly use my email instead. Many thanks and good luck…

    Just a little idea:

I like the content, however when you SHOUT your headlines (in capitalised letters), it makes me and people like me ignore your pages, on principle.

    Hi,

I work for the Meredith Corporation which publishes many magazines such as: Better Homes and Gardens, Family Circle, Fitness, and More. Health is a large topic in a number of our magazines. I could not find contact information for you on your Women’s Health blog on http://blogher.org/topic/health-wellness, so I thought I’d contact you through another of yours. I would love to get your contact information so that, in the future, I can send you clips from our upcoming issues that might be of interest to you and the readers of your blog.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

    Hi Catherine,

I didn’t see an e-mail address so I thought this would be the best way to thank you for the link today about the AFL-CIO health care survey. I must apologize for not adding Informed Voters to my blogroll. That mistake was rectified today. I don’t know where you get the time for all this writing with all you have on your plate! Basically if I have a lot of time to write on my blog, you know business at the book store is slow. So it’s kind of a double edged sword there. Anyway, I won’t be a stranger.
