Michelle Obama cannot decide against or veto Hillary. For that matter, Obama may not have the ability to decide. There is a great article over at Real Clear Politics that examines how a delegate role call is used to vote for VP (just as it is for President). If Hillary wants the VP slot and can sway some of the delegates who defected to Obama to vote for her (along with her loyal and large group of delegates) she'll get it. Tradition holds that it is the Presidential nominees choice but traditionally we haven't had such a close race!!!

If you believe that Barack is a straight-shooter and independent thinker (as I do), you have faith in his decision-making process and know that no ONE person will dictate the VP selection. Will he solicit his wife's opinion? Absolutely. Just like Hillary gave Bill her thoughts/opinions while he was in office.

If you're not a fan of Barack, you're probably eager to jump on the bandwagon protesting the notion that Michelle has veto power.

Let's be honest about our own filters as we consider this proposition ...

If Michelle has veto power over the VP, then she should be subject to the same level of scrutiny as the candidates. She has pretty much got a free pass in the media -- if she plans on being an activist first lady we need to know what her causes are going to be.

Michelle Obama is not a candidate for office. She shouldn't dictate what is best for the Democratic Party. I am not sure Hillary Clinton would be Obama's VP (I still think she might be the nominee) but the party if it wants to win has to do what's best not matter what Michelle thinks. IMO

here in ny we call the program All Children Left Behind. The reality is that public school education is, and has never been about real learning. It has always been about tracking people and placing them in various levels of the economic hierarchy. This ACLB mandate is seen by many of us as a revving up of the competitive nature for survival. If you rev up the ante and provide no means to get there a self-fulfilling prophecy is created with concommitant divisiveness as reflected in rytiki's first comment. The failure rate is now being placed on entire schools at once as opposed to single young people. Just think how many more people they can destroy by defunding an entire school. And what of the few students who are of really limited ability that need one-on-one academic attention to function. These young people are destined to be eliminated asap and that is how money will be saved. Of course, a little subtlety is in order because if they are too blatant, people will get the real message and may rise up in anger. So it is done inch by inch and done in a way they can blame the victim--the school, the teacher, the parent, the student. Such clever elitists!

So if one is to discuss an issue like this, I always prefer to go for the jugular of it. Much like Rev. Wright who called it like it is. But Americans dont do well with taking in reality.
Sorry for the bluntness.

Yeah OK...we should all be Christians and spread more hate and division. LOL. The reasons the Christians are hateful is because they are defensive. And what are they defending? They are defending mythology as literal historical truth. In short, they are deluded. Their creed is based in fear, shame, and guilt. James W. Fowler classifies fundamentalists as being at the mythic-literal level of spiritual development. Such folks have not yet attained a level of development where they think for themselves. So they have bought into the Christian creed lock, stock, and barrel. After all...the bible tells them so. In reality, there is not one piece of historical evidence that a person named Jesus even existed in 1st century Palestine...yet this lie is pounded into our heads.
