Should Michelle Obama Have The Power To Veto Hillary as VP? — by Catherine Morgan (cross-posted at The Care2 Election Blog)
Michelle Obama is a strong, educated, and empowering woman, as you can see from this video. But, when it comes to deciding who Barack should choose as his VP, I don’t want to believe she is laying down the law on who is forbidden. It hardly seems far fetched that Michelle would be against Hillary as VP, and who could blame her? I just don’t think Hillary or anyone else should be taken off the table, simply because Michelle Obama has put her foot down.

Michelle Obama is not a candidate for office. She shouldn’t dictate what is best for the Democratic Party. I am not sure Hillary Clinton would be Obama’s VP (I still think she might be the nominee) but the party if it wants to win has to do what’s best not matter what Michelle thinks. IMO

If Michelle has veto power over the VP, then she should be subject to the same level of scrutiny as the candidates. She has pretty much got a free pass in the media — if she plans on being an activist first lady we need to know what her causes are going to be.

If you believe that Barack is a straight-shooter and independent thinker (as I do), you have faith in his decision-making process and know that no ONE person will dictate the VP selection. Will he solicit his wife’s opinion? Absolutely. Just like Hillary gave Bill her thoughts/opinions while he was in office.
If you’re not a fan of Barack, you’re probably eager to jump on the bandwagon protesting the notion that Michelle has veto power.
Let’s be honest about our own filters as we consider this proposition …

Michelle Obama cannot decide against or veto Hillary. For that matter, Obama may not have the ability to decide. There is a great article over at Real Clear Politics that examines how a delegate role call is used to vote for VP (just as it is for President). If Hillary wants the VP slot and can sway some of the delegates who defected to Obama to vote for her (along with her loyal and large group of delegates) she’ll get it. Tradition holds that it is the Presidential nominees choice but traditionally we haven’t had such a close race!!!

Who’s Michelle to have such privileges? Do you imagine what could happen if she becomes First Lady? I believe that she is rather a negative presence for Obama, not an asset, due to all comments that she has made that I do not need to talk about, because they are everywhere. Besides, when you investigate Obama you can see many things not published by the media about their way of doing business in Chicago, I wonder why the press has given him such a free pass.

As the wife of a candidate, I sure think she should have the right to say “that person who talked about my husband getting assassinated is not going on the ticket.” She hasn’t said that, but I sure would.
