MSNBC Democratic Debate in Philadelphia…A Video Recap — by Catherine Morgan

Pre-debate from Keith Olberman on Countdown…

First, Ariana Huffington talks about “Giuliani is like Bush on steroids”. Personally, the idea of Giuliana as our next president is horrifying to me

One of the best performances of the night was by John Edwards. Although negative at times, he did very well.

John Edwards in a key moment at the Democratic candidates debate on MSNBC..

Here Hillary Clinton is pressured by Tim Russert to give an answer on her support or opposition to driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants…

Hillary appears to not give an answer, but does say she believes NY needs to pass immigration reform. Although put on the spot…she never appears to become rattled.

Attack Hillary becomes a central part of this debate…

John Edwards says, Hillary is the status quo candidate…

Obama on transparency…

Barack Obama shows why he is the candidate to lead America to the change the nation fundamentally needs…

Here Obama mentions that part of the reason the republicans are obsessed with Hillary is because, “that’s a fight they are very comfortable with having”. As much as I wish this wasn’t true, I have to agree. I’m afraid that the republicans are hoping Hillary will win the nomination, because they know they will be able to “swift boat” her until the cows come home. I think the republicans believe that Hillary is the one candidate they can beat, and who will give them a chance to stay in power.

Edwards says, “Hillary gave Bush exactly what he wanted” when it came to Iran…

Is Hillary attempting to “cover-up” archived information from the Clinton presidency?

Barack Obama questions the wider points of the secrecy entailed in closed archives.

The Richardson attempts to defend Hillary…

John Edwards-MSNBC Debate asks, “Are you willing to turn this mess over to your children?”

Dennis Kucinich, “President has violated international law.”

John Edwards on withdraw from the war…

Edwards, “We need to be patriotic for something other than war.”

Dennis Kucinich believes the policy of preemption of war is illegal, and the dems should impeach Bush and stand up for the constitution of the United States…

Kusinich says, “I believe in UFO’s because I saw one.”

All in all, my interpretation of this debate was…

I’m still not 100% sold on Hillary. I think Edwards is hangin in there, and I like what he stands for. Richardson would make a good VP. And, Obama really doesn’t want to win the nomination, I think he is positioning himself as a a running mate for Hillary.

But that’s all speculation on my part. What do you think?

Thanks for the videos!! I disliked seeing all this candidates take it against Ms. Clinton, the same way I applaud Richardson’s attitude towards defending Ms. Clinton. I voted for Kerry/Edwards, now I don’t think I would vote for him anymore!! These candidates are fighting to get the nomination no matter what, and it is easy to take it on Hillary , but, will they have the same guts to answer to Republicans? I don’t think so!! Barack is nice, but I would not vote for him either. Why don’t they accept that Hillary is the best candidate and unite to win the next elections? By the way, I am Independent

  4. Thanks for the comment Oscar. I’m happy you liked the video recap.

Thanks for posting this. I’m wondering if there is some sort of news blackout on youtube because I too had a hard time finding this on youtube.

  6. Thanks Joe. I’m not sure what is going on with youtube (other than it is just sometimes hard to find what you’re looking for).

  7. [...] Then came two huge turning points. Barack’s Jefferson Jackson Dinner speech, and the Philadelphia debate. [...]
