A Video Recap of the LiveStrong Democratic Cancer Forum with Clinton, Edwards, Richardson, and Kucinich.

LiveStrong Democratic Cancer Forum with Clinton, Edwards, Richardson, and Kucinich. — by Catherine Morgan (cross-posted at BlogHer)

Monday afternoon, four Democratic presidential candidates (Clinton, Edwards, Richardson, and Kucinich) participated in the LIVESTRONG Cancer Forum, moderated by Chris Matthews on MSNBC. Much like the CNN/YouTube debate last month, this forum addressed the concerns of “real” America, not “corporate” America. I applaud that.

Republican or Democrat, I want our next president to be “for the people” not “for the party”. So these types of debates are exactly what I hope we will continue to see more of. I also happened to post on the issue of universal health care on Friday, so this forum was particularly interesting to me.

Before we go any further, take a moment to view this short video about how devastating cancer is to American families. (Warning: If you cry easily you might want to wait until you’re alone.)

Posted by Catherine Morgan on August 24, 2007

Hi guys. If you have a minute, go check out my post on “Be The Change You Want To See In Yourself

How bloggers are changing the world, one post at a time.

Bloggers Are Changing The World? Yes, you bet they are! Are you one of them? Would you like to be? Bloggers are raising money, raising awareness, and raising hope, for causes all around the world. The best part about blogging is; anyone can do it, it’s easy, it’s free, and it’s also a lot of fun. — read full post

In a related topic, I just finished up my post for BlogHer on the Health Care Crisis.

I’m a little frustrated about not hearing more concrete answers from the presidential candidates on the health-care crisis in America. Let me clarify that; I am hearing a lot about how bad the “crisis” is, what I’m not hearing is how we are going to “fix” it. Why is that? — read full post

That’s it. Have a great weekend.

What The Bloggers Are Saying About The Karl Rove Resignation

Posted by Catherine Morgan on August 13, 2007

Here is what I have to say about it…

1. Who cares?

2. Can you take Bush with you?

3. I guess he figured he couldn’t cause much more damage in the White House, so he’s movin on.

4. Time for him to make millions on a book deal.

5. Jail? Not.

6. Couldn’t he have just wrote a letter? Did we really have to see the whole show?

7. I won’t be crying myself to sleep over this.

Interview on Countdown With Keith Olberman — Joe Biden Explains His Controversial Response During The AFL-CIO Debate Last Night

Posted by Catherine Morgan on August 8, 2007

Since I covered a recap of this debate last night, I felt I should add this interview of Joe Biden, explaining what appeared to many as him being disrespectful to the woman who asked a question.

This is how it appears on my recap post…

Joe Biden’s Macaca Moment…

Senator Joe Biden blows off during the Democratic AFL/CIO debate a woman’s question who’s husband died in the Sego mining accident on what he’d do about mining safety. The crowd is obviously not happy about it.

This is the explanation by Joe Biden on Countdown.

Tucker Carlson Just Called Bloggers “A Bunch Of Dumb Rich Kids”

Posted by Catherine Morgan on August 7, 2007

Hi Tucker. That was just about the most arrogant/mindless thing I have ever heard come out of your mouth.

I THINK AN APOLOGY IS IN ORDER.

When the topic of bloggers considering unionizing came up on his show, Tucker’s response was to say that “Bloggers are a bunch of dumb rich kids”.

Well…I’m not dumb, I’m not rich, and I’m not a kid (unless you consider 40 a kid). However, I AM MAD.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate passed legislation Thursday to add 3 million lower-income children to a popular health insurance program in bipartisan defiance of President Bush’s threatened veto.

The 68-31 vote, one day after the House passed a more ambitious and expensive version over bitter Republican opposition, handed Democrats a solid achievement to trumpet as they leave Washington for a summer break. — read more from CNN
