Just heard this news on CNN….
Should we be shocked? — more to come on this story later.
WASHINGTON – President Bush commuted the sentence of former aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby Monday, sparing him from a 2 1/2-year prison term in the CIA leak case. — read full article

From The Huffington Post — Bush Commutes Libby Prison Sentence
Bush’s move came just five hours after a federal appeals panel ruled that Libby could not delay his prison term. That meant Libby was likely to have to report soon, and it put new pressure on the president, who had been sidestepping calls by Libby’s allies to pardon Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff.
ABC News: Bush Spares Scooter Libby
Earlier Monday, a federal appeals panel unanimously ruled Former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby cannot delay his 2 1/2-year prison term in the CIA leak case.
President Bush Commutes Scooter Libby Sentence
In a statement issued late Monday, Mr. Bush said he took action because Libby’s prison term was excessive.

From Kim Pearson at BlogHer – Should The President and Vice President Resign?
Libby was convicted in March of lying to authorities and obstructing the investigation into the 2003 leak of CIA operative’s identity. He was the highest-ranking White House official ordered to prison since the Iran-Contra affair.
“I respect the jury’s verdict,” Bush said in a statement. “But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby’s sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison.”
An outraged Joe Wilson, Plame’s husband, spoke to CNN shortly after the ruling. The former ambassador had openly questioned the Bush administration’s basis for invading Iraq.
Now that Scooter is a free man, I think the next step is obvious – he should be called to testify on the myriad of scandals that he was intimately involved with.
I’m not surprised.
I am, however, in mourning for my nation and the rule of law we used to live under.
America, the grand experiment, is over.
AND, FROM AROUND THE WORD PRESS…
Bush Commutes Libby Prison Sentence
Thank you, Little George! You just drove the final nail into the Neo-Con coffin, if only the people have the sense to hear the pounding, proving once and for all that the Bush Administration cares nothing for any opinions but its own.
Get Out Of Jail Free Card For Libby
The Elitist in this country make it loud and clear: if you are loyal to us, no matter what we do, we will cover for you.
Maybe he thinks his approval ratings can’t get any worse. President Bush just commuted Scooter Libby’s prison sentence. Libby was convicted on obstruction charges in connection with the leake of CIA agent Valerie Plame’s identity.
George Bush, the lead traitor of America, has commuted Scooter Libby
President Bush is destroying the United States. If 2 1/2 year prison term is ‘harsh’ then what is 5 years? President Bush should have never spared Lewis Libby. President Bush is such a dumbass!
W to U.S. Justice System, “eff you Haterz”
The President has decided that the punishment handed down to Scooter Libby, a man who was charged with perjury by a Republican appointed U.S. Attorney, found guilty by a jury of his peers, and sentenced by a strict conservative judge appointed by the President himself…was a little harsh.
Every time I see an example of these kinds of powers used, I remind myself how little I understand American Law. They talk about democracy, actually have a republic, and behave like a monarchy?
Reactions to Libby’s Commutation
Bush’s idiocy grows by the day
Why in the hell did he commute Libby’s sentence? Bush looks like a liar who supports liars because he said he would not commute the sentence earlier.
On the same day that President Bush’s approval rating scraped the bottom of the cracka barrel, he decided to really show his his ass and commuted the sentence of Scooter Libby.
The President of Vice: doesn’t like people to see his hand inside the dummy, making its mouth move. So he tossed his dummy “Scooter” out the door, to sit at the reporters’ table at lunchtime, whereupon, eventually, he landed on a prosecutor’s doorstep.

Sickening.

Hi there “count” —
Thank you for all this critical information about former president Clinton. However, I see no parallels here.
What Bush has done by commuting Libby is tantamount to becoming an accessory to Libby’s obstruction of justice. This is not about tit-for-tat with Clinton, you might as well be comparing apples to oranges. And this is not even a “liberal” or “conservative” thing…as many Republicans also disagree with Bush on this issue.
But thank you again for your comment.

A GRAND Jury and a JURY of HIS PEERS:

But Gosh, Look at all that anal-retentive stuff you saved –ANY of it: a VIOLATION of US Constitution?
–Or: haven’t you gotten ’round to reading THAT? Tricky Dick: disgraced
himself, the office –worst holder ever –so set HIM as ‘model’? You
wouldn’t be a rightwing nut, desperate to justify Another stinking

1.) You’re most welcome.
2.) If you see know parallels between one presidents pardons and another presidents pardons, I really don’t know what to tell you.
Poppy8
1.) Every single pardon above (i think there are 146 of them) was the result of a “GRAND” and JURY of THEIR PEERS finding them GUILTY of above said crimes. Duh.
2.) For me to address presidential pardons equates to “anal retentive(ness)”, for you and Cathrine to address it, then it’s great info.?? (go figure)
3.) No, not a right-wing nut justifying anything, just posted about the topic of the blog, presidential pardons.
4.) Since you seem to be so confident in the dems. this coming election, want to bet ownership of your blog against mine that the republicans win the next election?

“ps say a name I know on the list!!!!”
Now you’re moving the goal post on me a little. First it was all this about how what GW did was unconstitutional because of the grand jury thing, I simply pointed out it was the same thing another pres. did (actually many)., Now you come at me with this “pick someone you know litmus test”, as if you’ll accept anything that doesn’t end in the Bush/Cheneys’ administration sucking. Your ignorance of people is of no matter to me, but seeing as how you’re so “in the know” with Scotter Libby you ought to at least know who Marc Rich is. However, I doubt without a quick google you have any idea who that is.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. “Catherine”, in regards to your “as many republicans disagree with Bush on this one”. Kind of like your memorial day tribute saying “Many soldiers are against the war”. Your exaggerations of the truth are transparent.
There’s about 250 Republicans in Washington, since “Many” of them disagree with Bush on this according to you. Can you name 5? I doubt it, even if you could that would still be only what 2%, a far cry from “many”.
I’m guessing your response to this will be anything other than naming 5 because you can’t. we’ll see…..

“Count” — Yesterday the major news stations were reporting that 40% of Republicans in Washington disagree with Bush Commuting Libby. I don’t make up this stuff. I would say you could equate 40% with many, if not I apologize. I would also say it is evident in the fact that many of the Republican candidates are trying to distance themselves from the Bush administration, I imagine this is because they know so many Republican voters are unhappy with the current administration. You really can’t deny that many Republicans are not happy with how Bush has been handling the war and many other issues, can you? It’s not a dare…just an observation.
Also, if it’s not too much trouble…could you provide links to your comment on the Clinton pardons? I would like to edit your first comment to include the links instead of the list. Thanks so much.

Which “major news stations”, reported that? I didn’t see or hear that. Which major new station”S” are you referring to.
“Many of the Republican Candidates”?????? Ummmm, maybe ron paul but nobody likes him much anyway. also not “many” (you use that word alot. I’m not sure you know what it means.
not sure where those were. Why a link instead of the list?

FYI…I don’t claim to be any kind of political pundit, I’m a mom with a political blog and an opinion. I’m not fond of blogs or forums that are “attack” oriented, and that’s why I started this blog. (hint – lol) If you think my opinion leans too far to the left, there is nothing I can do about that.

You’re not here to jump through hoops for me? uhmmmmm…. ok…. well….like I said, anything but backing up your bullshit. This is a blog right? If you make shit up then post it as fact, don’t be surprised if someone calls you out on it. Otherwise turn your comments off. Your political knowledge ends with the headlines of most liberal blogs. This blogs is 180 degrees from “informed” voters. I have plenty of friends on the left. I’m not near as far to the right as you think I am. It’s just gross that you guise your bologna as “informed” voters. It’s anything but.

Saw burner cover of my 1937 stove had come down over a pot; lifting it discovered, too late, white hot; heavily slathered honey stopped the pain & the blistering, but not before another(!) finger damaged in a bbq tong! So a little sloppy post.
“Count”: parents moved to a townhouse in gated community, 17 yrs ago, so heavily right-wing & famous for it, EVERY major candidate HAS made the trek since 1950s; though we warned not to move there, they & neighbors decided only way to get along: not discuss politics. By early summer 2006: every ONE of their neighbors went to them to say variations of ‘we are disgusted; we are voting Democratic.’ Parents: stunned. YOU didn’t see it coming?
I already knew: Republican Party commissioned a private & quiet poll –that put MOST Republicants
in Congress either in disbelief or in denial. Poll told them: going to loose 2006 election –Big Time. Most: couldn’t handle the info –FIFETEEN MONTHS before election; they went on as usual, raping & pilaging.
Now: They KNOW –HAVE THE INFO already –NO Republicant will be in Oval Office in 2008 –or for Decades.
Republicants: Livid –not just on fake war, on stupid Immigration “policy” –on welfare for drug-makers: it’s the midnight–and anonymous–raids on the Treasury. –Utter Betrayal of Rep. principles.
Doesn’t Matter at all –who they shove in front, he will get his butt kicked. Makes for fun spectator sport, though.
“…about 250 Republicans in Washington”???
Oh Paleeese. If you want reply: don’t play infantile games. YOU did a head-count? –Of ALL the –lobbyists –civil servants –Think-tankers + Congress + employees of oily boys working at EPA, Energy, Interior, etc. + Evangelical
“graduates” of Pat Roberts’ fake legal college + Pres. of Vice’s staff + Perle-Wolfie-Buchannan-Kristol & his rag’s cronies crowd, et al = 250???
–YOU think tons of Those Aren’t Diz-gusted??? Guess you mis-named yourself.
People who RESPECT law: do NOT think wiping out a jury and a judge’s decision are proper –or Constitutional –when the def. has material evidence that can get the ‘Administration’ Impeached and/or arrested, convicted of High Crimes & Misdemeanors. –Nobody needs to ‘name’ WHO is unhappy doing such a thing. –ALL major media has reported, etc. etc. Google it yourself.
“Jibberish”? –I gave you credit for being smart enough to figure out –off one character.
“…struooed nakid!!! –bligless!”
= stripped naked, blogless
I don’t want your blog, keep it; you’ll need Some thing to cheer you up, after the election.
“ps say a name i know on list!!!
–I SAW a name on the list –of a Person I know –an attorney, representing a cockroach I’m suing.
It’s Hilarious to see he got a pardon, Thanks.
For the record: Pres. Clinton pardoned 315, current Oval Office occupant: 115 –but occupant has 1 1/2 yrs more –if he isn’t arrested first. Pardon for M. Rich: made me angry –as angry as pardon for the drug-dealing son of a wealthy Calif. donor –who lied up AND down the path that led to Clinton and pardon (hell, he even fooled the pedophile “priest” thug Roger Mahoney, who wtote on son’s behalf). The difference: M. Rich, drug-dealer COULD NOT obstruct justice OR Keep secrets about covert WH activity. BIG difference. –Just WHOM do you imagine will be forking over the money to pay that “serious fine” Hmmm? –Hey, maybe the Pres. of Vice could, from the $2 1/2 Million bucks he collects annually from Halibutt….
You “debate” the way all right-wingers do: pick side, irrelevant points, try to drill down on those –ridicule people, ignore the molten lava.
Haven’t met ONE who Admits the things that are Wrong, so I don’t want to play with you anymore.

Thanks “Poppy”.
“Count” — Like I said…this isn’t an “attack” blog. I’ve told you this many times before…your opinion is welcome…It just would be nice if it was a “constructive” opinion. Name calling, and accusations really doesn’t qualify for a constructive opinion.
If your true intent is to “inform” others reading this blog of your differing opinion, I assure you…you will get more people to side with you by providing facts and links…unless your true intent is to just rally up other “hate mongers” that might be reading my blog, so they will check out your blog. (which is looking more and more like the case)
However…If your true intent is a to inform. Then how about a challenge?
Write a couple posts for me. I will publish them on my site and give you credit and a link. The only catch is…they can’t be hateful or an attack…in other words…you need to play nice. If that is something you think you can do…then we can talk about it some more.

Hey “Count” —
You said:
“If you make shit up then post it as fact, don’t be surprised if someone calls you out on it.”
I’ll say:
BTW…I just found something from your very own (non-liberal, and totally fair and balanced) FOX News, that backs up all my so called “shit”…
ALBUQUERQUE — Sen. Pete Domenici joined a growing chorus of Republicans Thursday who are calling for a change in course in U.S. military strategy in Iraq — sooner rather than later.
Domenici, R-N.M., says he supports a bipartisan Senate bill that would create conditions that could allow for a drawdown of U.S. combat forces in Iraq by next March.
Domenici said he does not want to wait until September, when military commanders are to give an assessment.
Parents of New Mexico’s military war dead in the past told him the U.S. should stay in Iraq as long as it takes, Domenici said. Those same parents are asking him to do more to bring troops home sooner, he added.

“Count” — Just happened to come across this poll that backs me up as well, and I thought you might want to check it out.

No apology necessary, but it would be nice if you wouldn’t refer to my posts as “shit”…thanks.

You’ll get no apology here. That poll says nothing about the “40%” of republicans that are against the libby pardon that you state as fact. It’s about Iraq not what this blog was about. Try to stay on topic.
poppy8- lol kinda figured you’d fall short of the wager. See ya in 08
sorry i didnt confused strood nakid as you wrote with stripped nakid. I know what neither means. Must be your superior intellect

O.k. “Count” — I’m done playing. I pretty much said what I wanted to say in comment #18. I’m assuming you are just not up to the challenge.

I challenge you to name 5 republicans of the 250+ that are against the libby decision since you said there are “many”.
you can’t and don’t then you tell me 40% of republicans were against the decision according to the “major network news” you watched. So I again challenge you to name 5 (there are after all Many and 40% according to you and “major” network news.
You again change the subject and topic, you send me a random phone polling regarding presidential confidence, absolutely nothing to do with the Libby Case or presidentail pardons as was the topic of this blog.
I pointed that out to you, and now you’re “done playing” and you have a challenge for me? Uhmm…..okay….I’ll write a couple blogs for you when I have some time.
For the record you question me providing facts. My comment on this blog which apparently bothered you and hurt finger guy, was nothing but facts.
The title of this gem of a post of yours is nothing shy of an attack on our administration, yet you can’t seem to get over writing about how this isn’t an attack blog.
I’ve agreed to your challenge, you gonna agree to mine? Name 5 of the “many” republicans that are against the pardon, and name the “major news” source you give your stats of 40% republicans are against the pardon?…..I doubt it.

ROFL, do you know what a “hate monger” is? Are you calling me a hate monger by saying “other”, what about your name calling morals you preach to me about? Do you really think my personal blog that rarely deals with politics is hungry for traffic from all 6 of your readers?
Who are you kidding?

“Count” –
I haven’t really seen much of your blog, I assumed it was political since you seem to have such strong opinions about my blog, and have singled my blog out as one you don’t agree with. Quite frankly, I’m just trying to figure out what your motive is here?
There are many political blogs and forums that encourage the type of (disrespectful) comments that you are giving here. I’ve told you this before, I encourage a kind approach to debate. If you disagree, then disagree in a respectful way. Otherwise…find one of the other thousands of political blogs that you disagree with and comment there.
I’ve tried to be kind to you, even offering you a platform for your opinion on this blog as a post…There is not much more I can do to placate you at this point. It’s obvious you don’t like to play nice.
Since I refuse to turn off the ability for people to leave comments, because I encourage differing opinions…I will be providing comment guidelines shortly, and blocking or deleting anything hateful, disrespectful, or troll-like comments. I’ll continue to be interested in your comments, as long as they are written in a respectful way.

I’ve left nothing disrespectful for you here. I posted a comment that was nothing but fact, no input what so ever then you and hurt finger guy jumped on me with all the stripped nakid junk attacking me etc.. I still didn’t buy into your childish games just continue to ask you to back up your statements. you cant, so you attack me and play the victim. cute game, i’m done with you here. Ever notice your most read blogs are the ones I commented on. lol later libtard.

note to the 6 readers of this blog
she never stated her sources on the 40% gig she claims to have seen on tv
she never named only 5 of the “Many” republicans that were against the libby pardon. Wonder why?

Thank you for the enlightened information “count”. I’m sure you know by my stats I get many readers to this blog, this post alone had over 1,000 hits just in the first day.
“she never named only 5 of the “Many” republicans that were against the libby pardon. Wonder why?”
Let’s see…maybe because I just don’t care.

George W. Bush’s sentence-by-sentence speaking skills are deteriorating. Apparently, this may be due to a mental illness called “presenile dementia.” Bush may or may not be secretly still drinking heavily. Bush lied, and thousands of people died. Bush suffers from narcissism and megalomania. Moreover, Bush has been arrested three times. Bush was arrested for disorderly conduct. Bush was arrested for stealing. Bush was also arrested for a serious crime—driving under the influence of alcohol. There are reasons to believe that Bush suffers from a learning disability. Bush’s learning disability would explain a lot of things. All in all, Bush is a severely mentally ill individual. Bush is not fit to be the president of the United States.
Bush should be locked up.
