Americans in dire need of perspective and a reality check

Does anyone remember in the wake of 9/11, what Osama Bin Laden had to say in a released video and propaganda that was being spread? The strategy behind Bin Laden’s attack on the world trade center was to financially cripple the United States. They wanted to bankrupt our country, because they know that in a capitalist society.. thats what hurts the most. Well, if Ron Paul’s worst fears come true… they will have accomplished their objective. — read full post

Military Strategy? None Think about the troops that are in Iraq, fighting a war based on a strategy of “kill terrorists”. Thats it, that was our strategy going in, we had no reason to plan out a long series of goals or whatever it is that Congress is trying to do now. It was about taking out Saddam and allowing Iraqi’s to experience democracy. We all know democracy comes at a price, but at what point do we say enough is enough? The other side suffers as we do, war is never pretty, below is an image of a child who survived a blast, unlike the 7 kids that died in our most recent military mistake that incited even more hate and anger in our enemy and allies: – read full article

This is a post worth checking out…it has news, links, opinion, pictures, and even youtube videos.

It’s time to show your support for Ron Paul. In an effort to raise awareness for Ron Paul, I’m asking you to read and Digg this article. With your support, we can bump this story to the front page, and raise awareness for Dr. Ron Paul. It would also be very beneficial to spread the word through your blog. Thanks for your support!

  2. Hi Sean — I “Dugg” it. Not because I support Dr. Ron Paul, but because I support all the information be given to the American public, so we can all make an informed decision when we go to the polls. I’m just not ready to “support” any one candidate at this point. But thanks so much for the link, and keep me posted on anything else I need to know.

Seeing as how you have self proclaimed your commitment to “all the information” numerous times on your blog here, and even titled it “informed voters”, how about following up on that commitment with actual content. Somewhere between your pics of injured babies, flag draped caskets, and Memorial day tributes slamming our forces, how about some pics. of our soldiers at war doing their job, actually helping babies, and other Iraqi’s (just google, there’s thousands).

In this post you link to another blog that claims there is no military strategy, how bout throwing a link up to the new strategy that’s currently underway, and by most reports has shown positive signs recently. Of course you’ll have to dig a little, most news is much the same as what you post here, biased, anti-American rhetoric. Until then you might change your site to uninformed voters.

  4. Hi there “count” —

I did this post because of it’s assessment of the Iraq war (including pictures and video, which I happen to like). As far as “informing voters” this blog is always open for you or anyone else to leave comments and links to information that you (or others) believe is important for others readers to know.

I’ve been planning to do a “page” on all the presidential candidates with “pros” and “cons” — basically links but also with some opinion, and of course others could comment with their opinion and additional links as well. I will probably put something together by the end of the summer…it seems too early right now.

However, I’m not going to apologize for stating MY OPINION on MY BLOG. I’ve covered four recent debates (two of course Republican), and have linked to both conservative and liberal sites. There are some Democrats I agree with others I do not, same with the Republicans. FYI…I’m not the only person against the war in Iraq. I’m also not sure if the blog I linked to in this post is conservative or liberal (as many conservatives are also against the war)…I only read the one post. I liked it, I posted it, and I recommended it…like I said before, IT’S MY BLOG and as such I reserve the right to post what I want on it.

It’s MY PERSONAL OPINION that this blog not be just one sided (as most political blogs are), but that doesn’t mean I will not comment on MY PERSONAL OPINION…which “you” may or may not agree with. It’s your choice to disagree in a helpful way (possibly including helpful links, etc), or you can choose to disagree with “name calling”. Since name calling doesn’t serve to “inform” anyone, you might want to consider the disagree in a helpful “respectful” way option, and include information that would be valuable to other readers of this blog.

1.)never said you owed anyone an apology (except maybe when you slammed our troops for Memorial day)
    2.)Didn’t call anyone any names.
3.) I realize this is your blog, and your “opinions”, I was just pointing out to you that you don’t label it as such.
4.)Yes I read your coverage of the Rep. debates, what was it?..oh yeah “Yawn”.
5.)Your statement that “Many” conservatives are against the war, is much like your statement for Memorial day that “Many” soldiers are against the war… False innuendo.
6.)I agree with your personal opinion that your blog (considering it’s titled “informed voters”), should not just be one sided. The point to my comment, is that your blog is indeed very one sided, no matter how YOU label it.
No biggey, there are tons of left wing liberal blogs floating around the internet cloaked as two-sided information hubs. I question the benefit of such deceit.

  6. Have a nice day “count”.

So, you like seeing bleeding babies wrapped in gauze?

  8. “Sohos” — I think it was obvious by my comment that what I meant was…I happen to like bloggers who use a lot of pictures and videos on their posts. I obviously don’t “like” to see bleeding babies wrapped in gauze…but I also am not going to “deny” that these babies exist.
    Thank you for your comment.

  9. Hi Catherine,

“…I also am not going to “deny” that these babies exist.”

I don’t think anyone is saying you are denying that fact. They are simply asking how did this child get injured? It could have been a roadside bomb… The way you set up your post, makes it look like US troops are the ones responsible for the infants wounds. Whether or not that is your intention, that is the way it is appears.

  10. “Knighthospitaller”

Maybe it is not clear…This post (my post) is a link to another post (not my post) that has this and other pictures on it. I found this other post interesting and informative, I wanted to bring it to the attention of readers of my blog.

With that said, I am not implying that this child (in the picture) was injured by any US troops. I don’t believe the original post is implying that either. This child (like many others) is a casualty of war.

Yes, I am against this war. I am against all the death in Iraq. I hate it, and I want it to stop. I believe that a person (such as myself) can be against the war but still support the troops. I believe I can be against terrorism but still mourn the death of innocent lives (especially children).

  11. I am simply bringing it to your attention, that people coming to your blog, and seeing that image at the top, followed by the comments below, will get the impression that you believe the US is responsible…

    And about the war,

If terrorists were not in Iraq before, they are there now. If we leave, were will they go? What will they do? Don’t you see, we cannot simply end the war by leaving. The war will go on long after the last US solider returns to his home soil. It is not what you want to hear, I know, but it is the truth.

To build may have to be the slow and laborious task of years. To destroy can be the thoughtless act of a single day.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

  12. Hi “Knighthospitaller”

The picture and the comments are what they are, I guess everyone will have their own impression of what the picture represents…I’ve already stated what I believe. I’m not going to change the post just because the picture is invoking emotion.

As far as the rest of your comments regarding the war…I don’t have the answers, and I don’t claim to have the answers. I just want to see our troops come home, and no more of them die. I don’t know how that should be accomplished, but it is just how I feel.

And to Mr. Churchill…I have to respectfully disagree.

  13. “And to Mr. Churchill…I have to respectfully disagree.”

Lol. People either really like him, or really don’t like him. There tends to be no middle ground. I think that’s the very reason I like him so much, he says it like it is and pulls no punches.

I too wish to see the troops come home. But you have to look at the repercussions. The bad things will not simply get swept under the rug… There are people out there who would like nothing more then to kill you and I simply because we are who we are, and they are far more dedicated the America has shown itself to be in Iraq. And then there is the Iranian business, but that is another story entirely.

I am glad to hear you supporting the troops though, they are doing great work for us, and they sacrifice so much…

    God Bless.

  14. “Knighthospitaller” — Thanks for the comment, and for the chance to Lol.
