Controversial Immigration Bill — Is This Amnesty? What YouTubers, Bloggers, and Lou Dobbs Are Saying? What do you think?

Posted by Catherine Morgan on June 1, 2007

I’ll be honest with you…I don’t know how I feel about all this. But in case you are interested, here is some stuff being talked about this week. Feel free to leave a comment with how you feel about this controversial Immigration Bill.

Bush Pressing Hard on Immigration Bill

Washington — President Bush challenged lawmakers on Friday to have the political courage to pass an immigration bill amid intense pressure from critics who call it amnesty and advocates who believe the current system is broken.

Bush stressed that while voting for the bill might be politically risky, he does not think the measure itself is risky.

“This is a difficult issue for a lot of folks,” the president said. “I understand that. But because it’s difficult probably means we need to work doubly hard to get it done. And now’s the time to get it done.

“No matter how difficult it may seem for some politically, I strongly believe it’s in this nation’s interest for people here in Washington to show courage and resolve and pass a comprehensive immigration reform.” — read full article

This is just another excuse for ignoring law, trading up for another law. After all, this whole immigration legislation was a farce 20 years ago which will develop into a bigger fraud some 21 years later. In this case, get enough people to violate any law, then law is no longer relevant. Let’s face it, foreign nationals are be given the gift of something citizens are denied. Tax amnesty, forgiveness of all collateral crimes which range from social security fraud, to identity theft. Not to mention the government that thinks it’s possible to process 48,000 resident immigration applications a day without any fraud occuring. But now, 20 years later the lie has just gotten much bigger. We have been assimilated to a foreign culture, alien to American values. This meets the definition of an invasion, if you will.

Let me see…you break our laws getting here, work for cash, don’t pay taxes, get free health care, welfare, section 8 rent support, don’t have to learn English. Now you get a free pass to stay and get all the benfits of being a citizen but you don’t have to actually be one. No assimilation required, just bring the rest of the family from the 3rd world dump you came from and then make this country like the one you left.

Sure sounds like amnesty to me.

Like you, I honestly do not know how I feel about this entire issue. Everytime I think “Ok, let’s simply stop at this point, give amnesty, and start over,” I think of five reasons why this is wrong.
This post helps to inform on this complicated problem and I thank you for it.

Actually, until the Civil War, the United States had no immigration laws to speak of—so there’s no real distinction between legal and illegal immigration for almost the first century of U.S. history (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, “Overview of INS History”). Federal immigration law began with the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, and immigration policy was explicitly directed toward keeping out undesirable nationalities until 1965—a legacy that is hard to describe as a “rich tradition.”

  7. Just look at the numbers,20 years ago there was amnesty granted to 10 million ilegals which then brought the rest of their families(Parents,in laws, wives&kids, cousins even friends.)Today we have 25 millions ilegals, now you do the math how many will be here in 2025?
