Do You Feel Sorry For George Tenet? He’s home in America with a book deal, while so many American’s are fighting and dying in Iraq.

President Bush awards the Presidential Medal of Freedom to former CIA director George Tenet during a ceremony at the White House, December 14, 2004. Tenet faced accusations of hypocrisy from former espionage officials on Monday for not speaking out earlier against the White House’s push to invade Iraq, which he describes critically in his new memoir. NEW YORK — The backlash has built up even before the official release of former CIA Director George Tenet’s memoir, with criticism about his version of the run-up to the Iraq war, interrogation techniques and other events.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Sunday disputed Tenet’s claim that the Bush administration, before the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, never had a serious debate about whether Iraq posed an imminent threat or whether to tighten existing sanctions. — read full article

I don’t feel sorry for Tenet. He has a book deal, while the troops and their families are really suffering.

BAGHDAD – Five U.S. troops died in weekend attacks, pushing the death toll past 100 in the deadliest month for American forces since December, the military said Monday as a wave of violence battered Iraqi civilians including a suicide bombing at a Shiite funeral. — read full article

No, I don’t feel sorry for Tenent.
He seeks redemption now and in his finger pointing he turns us away from his complicity, away from his lack of opposing voice to what he knew was wrong, away from the CIA’s policy of ‘extraordinary rendition,’ away from his cheerleading of this criminal administration.
What I feel for him is contempt.

  2. “Mirth” — I think contempt sounds about right. I can’t stand seeing him have his little pity party on all the news shows, while our troops are dying in Iraq. Not too mention…profiting from all of this. Yes, I would say contempt is what I feel as well.

Contempt is the ONLY word to describe my feelings for it. Tenet didn’t seem to mind playing the patsy when he was getting his medal of freedom.

  4. “D-day” — I don’t know how some of these people can sleep at night…I guess money can’t buy happiness, but it must have some capability to induce a good night sleep.

  5. [...] President Bush awarded the medal of freedom to George Tenet George Tenet received a Medal of Freedom for his “heroic” act of leading the war on terror. Of course Tenet sat back in the USA, like you and I — slept in the comfort of his own bed and got to see his children, loved ones and friends whenever he wanted to. Look at what happened to him, .Do You Feel Sorry For George Tenet? He’s home in America with a book deal, while so many Americanâ… [...]

  6. No. I don’t feel sorry for Tenet. Click on my link and see the youtube video of George Tenet telling a 9/11 lie at his March 2005 speech at the University of Oklahoma. This was in response to a question from me. He was disputing a Time magazine report about an earlier lie he had told in August 2001. That particular lie enabled the 9/11 attack to go forward. Read the associated documentation. Then you’ll see why I don’t feel sorry for Tenet.
