DEADLIEST DAY FOR U.S. FORCES IN TWO YEARS — by Catherine Morgan

If the war in Iraq wasn’t already bad enough, Saturday marked the deadliest day in two years for the U.S. troops. Our armed forces had twenty deaths in military action just yesterday, thirteen of the deaths came from a black-hawk helicopter crash. That brings the U.S. death toll to 3,052, that is three thousand and fifty-two U.S. men and women killed fighting in another country’s civil war.

I really don’t know what else to say. It just makes me very sad. I wish I could say that I know just what we should do to get ourselves out of this mess, but I don’t even have an opinion on what we could do…..Which if you knew me you would know that it is very infrequent that I “don’t” have an opinion. It’s not so much that I don’t have an opinion, of course I have an opinion on the war, it’s just I don’t have any opinion on what in the world we could do to get us out of this horrible war. The only thing I know for sure is that too many people have died……And I want it to STOP!

I will say, that when it comes to war in general…..I just wish the whole world would just STOP IT! It seems to me that maybe the best way to handle these types of conflicts in the future would be to just have the disputing countries’ administrations, (ie: presidents, and their councils) go at it with guns and knifes, until the only people left in the world would be the ones who are willing to find peaceful solutions to worldly problems. Well, that will never happen. I guess the point I am trying to make is….If the people making the decisions to go to war actually had to fight the war themselves, seems to me there wouldn’t be so many wars.

What do you think?

ALSO….IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY…..CHECK OUT POST ON THE BLOG OF A 17 YEAR OLD BOY IN IRAQ……Unfortunately, it seems he hasn’t posted since December 30th….hopefully he is OK.

Like you, I am saddened every time I read a body count. Too bad we don’t have a president who understands the meaning of diplomacy. A diplomat he’s not. Is he a fighter? Don’t make me laugh! He barely got through boot camp himself, but he’s more than willing to throw lives away in a fruitless, unwarranted war. As long as those boys’ parents keep saying their sons deaths are okay, because it’s the patriotic thing to do, the best of our boys will continue to die.

Thank you “Frances Ellen” AKA “mom”……I agree. However, I do believe that many families of these boys’ are upset about the way our “president” is handling this war. I think it is becoming very obvious to most people that we are allowing our soldiers to be killed in a civil war that has nothing to do with protecting our country. It is just sad that the rest of us are essentially powerless to do anything, do to our current “dictatorship-style” government. I wish I could say it looks like things might change soon, but it certainly doesn’t seem that way.

    Thank you for your comment.
